Set against a dramatic backdrop of exposed bedrock and steep elevation changes, this Cohasset property demanded innovative design solution. Extensive ledge hammering and removal was required to carve out space for the pool and upper terrace areas—transforming a rugged site into a refined outdoor living retreat. To maximize usable space within the tight setback corner, Ivy Studio designed a custom outdoor kitchen station integrated directly into the north bedrock wall. This bold, site-specific approach not only preserved valuable square footage but also created a striking visual and structural anchor for the space.

Close collaboration with the Town of Cohasset Conservation Commission ensured the project exceeded stormwater management standards. Decorative trench drains were seamlessly incorporated into the hardscape, channeling patio runoff to an engineered drywell system.

At the heart of the patio, sleek bushhammer finish Blue Mist granite sets a sophisticated floor. Overhead, a motorized louvered pergola provides adjustable shade and shelter, making the space equally ideal for sunny afternoons or evening gatherings around the fireplace—complete with a built-in TV for game nights under the stars. This project was finished ahead of schedule & budget, which allowed for summer use right away.
